Anti-TPP Solidarity Rally and March

James Gatlin, Freddie Hughes, and Fred Rayford attended a Solidarity Rally and March, on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Addison Circle Park. We assembled to protest TPP, Trans Pacific Partnership Trade Agreement, a free trade agreement that Labor is considering a NAFTA on steroids. These trade agreements are allowing corporations to help write and construct laws to lower wages, dismantle environmental laws, decrease access to generic life-saving medicine, further deregulate the banking system and further reduce corporate taxes. After a few guest speakers, including the President of the Texas AFL-CIO, Becky Moeller, we marched down to the Intercontinental Hotel, and protested outside the doors of the hotel, where high level negotiations were being held behind closed doors, on the new international trade and investment pact between the United States and countries throughout the Pacific Rim.

More protest and gatherings will continue throughout this week.
