UAW Local 848

Thanksgiving (December 2, 2014)

Hello my Brothers and Sisters,

My name is Chaplain Darryl E. Richardson of UAW Local 848. I would like to take a moment to share with you my thanks as well remind everyone that we all have a reason to give thanks.

First and foremost, I give thanks to my heavenly Father. I thank God for a love that surpasses all understanding. A love that paid a price to save me and set me free. A love that made it about me and not about Himself. I thank God that I have an opportunity to try to love my Brothers and Sisters like God loves me. You see, it’s all about God and not about me. It’s all about His will and not about mine. God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.

I’m truly a blessed man of God. I’ve been married for 32 years to my wife who I’m in love with. She still got it and I still want it (lol lol lol). I have 3 kids and 2 grand kids and thank the Lord, they all know Christ. I thank God for my life, my health and my strength. You see I can go on and on because He’s that good and is worthy to be praised all the time.

Please let me share something with you….God is in everything and I challenge you to look for Him because He is there. So because God is in everything we should thank Him for His presence, and because He is Present, we need not worry or be concerned about our trials and tribulations. Just let go and let God. I thank God for our current trial that we at 848 are going through right now. Why? Because I’ve learned things and seen things that I otherwise wouldn’t have learned or seen if it weren’t for this trial. You see, faith isn’t faith until it’s tested and this test of faith has revealed a lot about me as well my Brothers and Sisters of Local 848. Let me tell you, in these trying times right now, in this world of uncertainty, one thing that can’t be taken away from me is the relationships that I have had the privilege of being a part of, old and new, and I thank God for that.

Family of Local 848, let us keep our heads up or maybe bowed and give God the glory that He deserves. Let us find God in all that we do. Let us continue to grow in grace because no one is perfect, and no one will ever be, but we should always strive for perfection. Let us be a union of excellence, a union who places God first and not ourselves. Let us in our prayers remember to pray for our President James Ducker because he is placing emphasis on God, because he knows for which cometh our help. Let us pray for the E-Board, Stewards, Committee members, staff, and all that makes up our Leadership. I thank God for my union because everything might not go my way but it always goes God’s. Last but not least, I thank God for the opportunity to serve you as Chaplain of UAW 848. I never would have thought that I would be in the position to represent the Local in such a capacity as this. Serving as Chaplain is truly an honor and a privilege and I pray for God’s strength and direction that I may be an ambassador for the Kingdom of God.

Mighty men and women of God, let us be quick to listen, and slow to speak. Don’t let the devil steal your joy and in all, give thanks.
