Foxwoods Refuses Paid Leave...Workers Told File for Unemployment

In this unprecedented situation , Casinos across the country are paying their workers, even partial wages for 2 weeks, but Foxwoods would not agree to any paid leave. Apparently the Tribe can afford to pay for 2 new casinos, but not for the workers they currently employ!! This is unacceptable.

We were able to  negotiate the following terms thus far, but you must file unemployment if you want to be paid.

1. Benefit time will NOT be taken except at Employees request
2. All BU members are entitled to collect unemployment for the length of the furlough
3. All benefits including seniority will remain intact for duration of furlough
4. Employee premiums will be subject to double deductions upon return
5. All Vacation, Sick and Personal time will be accrued as dictated by the CBA during furlough
6. Weekly Benefit hour credit by status ( 40 for FT, 24 hr for RPT, 16 hr for PT) towards benefit retention and FML during furlough

Unemployment offices are doing their best to help all of our workers, but there just isn't enough help to go around. We appreciate our Brothers and Sisters at AFSCME COUNCIL 4 who are on the front lines in the Unemployment offices going above and beyond to help our workers and so many othersl!

Please file online!
