The Richard 'Dik' Days Scholarship

UAW Region 9A Director Julie Kushner with awardee Local 2121 member Ludwig Pulaski, CBTU-CT President Kathy Jackson and US Senator Richard Blumenthal.

UAW Region 9A is proud to announce the establishment of the Richard ‘Dik’ Days Scholarship Fund, which was created in memory of our Brother and Labor Educator, Richard Adam Days. The Scholarship Fund was developed through collaboration with the Connecticut Chapter of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionist (CBTU) and the Days family. This scholarship fund pays tribute to the lasting impact Brother Days had on many of our lives and his teachings in helping us better understand our role in the Union and the communities in which we serve.

The Scholarship Fund will award two scholarships annually to a Connecticut full-time undergraduate student.

In May of 2015, we are awarding scholarships for Connecticut residents who are full-time students currently enrolled in an undergraduate program. It is also open to high school seniors who are accepted and are enrolling in a college program for the Fall semester. There are two $1,000 scholarships. The application process is closed- if you are interested, please check back in the beginning of 2016 for that year's scholarship announcement.

Scholarship winner Meadeshia Mitchell speaks to the crowd.

The Scholarship Fund is a 501 (c) (3) plan. Tax deductible donations can be made payable to the Richard ‘Dik’ Days Scholarship Fund and mailed to PO Box 7531, Bloomfield, CT 06002. Our email is and you can find us on Facebook at
